Waste Not, Want Not

Where does most of the weight in our landfills come from? Food waste! (30 million tons, to be exact). This is a real….waste, for lack of a better term.

First of all, lots of people are hungry and would love to have access to the food we’re throwing away.

Secondly, lots of energy and land goes into producing that food waste — 51% of man-made greenhouse gases come from the livestock industry, and 30% of ice-free land in the United States is used for meat production.

What can you do? This handy-dandy pyramid helps give you options for ways to reduce your food waste.
